Stacey’s Road Rage essay presentation was really good. I see this many of times when people would fly around me with a dirty look or a loud honk with the finger. I, too, sometimes feel a road rage when in a hurry but I try to stop and realize it is better to be late somewhere than in an accident. I’m sure this is a very worthwhile essay to read and I’m sure she Stacey learned quite a bit about it while writing.

The three most important topics I learned this semester in ENG 112 are:
1. Annotating my sources. When I choose a source to use in my essay I will read them carefully 3 – 4 times and then write out to the side what I learned from them. With this information I can then create my own summary for my essay.
2. Developing a thesis. An effective thesis may take some time and drafts to fulfill a well written essay. At first one may come to mind but after thinking and re-thinking about what information may apply to an essay, a final thesis may have to be written to connect to the entire essay.
3. Works Cited using MLA. I may have to use MLA in the classes I have left in order to receive my degree. I used APA in TECH 310 and now MLA. I found out how to cite the sources and a works cited page for my research papers.

I am taking Advanced Technological Education. From what I have learned in ENG 112, I feel that I will be able to write my reports with a better thesis and to make sure the thesis is penetrated well into the source paragraphs. My sources will be critiqued to make sure the author is well informed of the subject. The source readings will be annotated and summarized. Citing works in this class has helped me. The skills that I have learned in this class will help me correctly cite authors within my writings to make sure that credit is due. Also, to pay close attention to my works cited page to correctly credit my sources in MLA, APA or whatever writing style I use. I will be able to conclude my essays in different varieties depending on which way works best.

Chapter nine of “From Inquiry to Academic Writing” has given me assistance in how to provide an introduction to my essay. With the sources that I have been using and the facts that plan to demonstrate, I feel the “inverted triangle” best suits the paragraph to introduce my thesis. Remembering the metaphor of the essay resembling a “shish-kabob” and the thesis as being the skewer that holds the paragraphs together is a simple way to keep the wording of the essay together and make sense for the reader. I plan to define many terms that are used in solar technology. Many of the sources will be used as synthesis to back others opinions and add depth to my paragraphs. “Challenging the Reader” will be an effort that I hope to achieve by giving my audience the task to make others aware of what efforts are happening with solar power and if the government is aware that renewable energy is a better form of producing power than fossil fuel usage.
Annotating and critiquing my sources has been helpful to adding cited information to my paragraphs and synthesis.
